J.M produces rum in the Martinique island since 1845 and the distillery was established by Jean Marie Martin (the name J.M is taken from his initials) located in the northern part of the island. The rum is produced through agricole method as other distilleries following the strict production control regulation of AOC.
J.M distillery is notable for all the sugarcanes used for production being cultivated in their owned field. The key of agricole method is “to use sugarcanes as fresh as possible”. In case of J.M the sugarcanes can be smashed within one hour from the harvest since the distillery is surrounded by their sugarcane field. Distilling is limited to 70% only.
Non-alcoholic part is kept over 30% in order to keep the flavor as much as possible.
* Old bottles of rum and whiskeys may be out of stock depending on seasons.
